WHICH CONDENSING
BOILER IS FOR YOU ?
OUTPUT /
SIZE
Initially you would determine the size of boiler required by
the size of your property, how many radiators you have and how
many people live at home.
All the above
boilers will carry out the heating needs of most homes, but some
larger homes will suffer on the hot water delivery from the smaller
output boilers.
Under each
boiler description above we note the hot water output in litres
per minute. The industry standard temperature rise is 35c from
cold. (
Beware of some heating companies giving you this information
showing a 30c rise, which would look like a higher output in
litres per minute - we have shown you both )
The more litres
per minute, the quicker the boiler would fill your bath - simple
!
So, If you
take more baths than showers at your home then we would advise
you to have a 28Kw or higher output of boiler especially if there
are more than 3 people living at home.
If you take
more showers than baths and there are less than 3 people living
at home, then we would probably advise you to have a 24Kw boiler
installed.
A Rough Guide:
A 24 Kw
boiler would take approximately 8 minutes to fill your bath with
hot water.
A 28 Kw
boiler would take approximately 6 minutes to fill your bath with
hot water.
A 35 Kw
boiler would take approximately 4 minutes to fill your bath with
hot water.
If you have
a larger house with an en-suite fitted as well as a house bathroom,
then you must have at least a 30Kw boiler fitted.
Example: If
you liken boilers to cars, then it can be easier to understand.
Compare a
small Fiat car to a large BMW Saloon car. ( small boiler & large boiler output
)
They can both
get you from 'A' to 'B', but one can do it more comfortably than
the other. The Fiat car is ideal for nipping around to the shops ( smaller system ) and the BMW is ideal
for longer, more comfortable journeys. ( larger system ) BUT - they could both do each others
journeys !
The final decision is
how much YOU want to pay.
CONDENSING
BOILER EXPLAINED:
ON AVERAGE,
THROUGH THE SEASONS, AROUND 90%* OF THE GAS USED IS CONVERTED
TO HEAT COMPARED WITH AROUND 76%* WITH A CONVENTIONAL APPLIANCE
(*SEDBUK EFFICIENCIES).
BECAUSE CONDENSING BOILERS WASTE SO LITTLE HEAT, THE FLUE GASES
EXITING THE BOILERS ARE FAR COOLER THAN CONVENTIONAL APPLIANCES.
THIS LEADS UNDER OPTIMUM CONDITIONS TO THE FLUE GASES CONDENSING
INSIDE THE BOILER AND FLUE PIPE. THE RESULTING WATER DROPLETS
(ONLY EQUIVALENT IN ACIDITY TO LEMON JUICE) DRAIN INTO THE BOILERS
INTEGRAL TRAP AND OUT TO A NORMAL DOMESTIC DRAIN. |
