Central Heating

WHY CHOOSE CENTRAL HEATING?

With todays technology there are many different ways of heating your home - by far the best and cost efficient is Gas Central Heating.

There are numerous types and styles of boilers but only two main system designs for todays home owner - The Fully Pumped System or The Sealed System.

THE SEALED SYSTEM
The Sealed System is the most widely used system for new installations. With the advent of Combination Boilers, this system has proved itself time & time again, giving the benefits of 'Instant Hot Water' at the turn of a tap, and requires no tanks in the loft or hot water storage cylinder. This gives you more space & uses less pipework in the installation, further reducing the risk of pipe freezing during the winter months. Because you don't have to pre-heat a large supply of water you can save on fuel bills too. On the heating side you will find that the radiators heat up a great deal faster due to the water being under pressure, thus your home will be warmer a great deal sooner.

THE FULLY PUMPED SYSTEM
( traditional system ) requires the fitting of tanks in the loft. One of these receives water from the mains, which then flows down into the central heating boiler. The other tank also receives water from the mains, which then passes down into the cylinder in the airing cupboard to be heated up by hot water from the boiler. This combination of tanks, cylinder and the large amount of pipework needed to connect them all together can take up a great deal of room in the average home. The only main benefit of the fully pumped system is that you gain an airing cupboard. BUT!.. If you have a large house then this system is ideally suited for you, as you may have more than one bathroom and the hot water demand is coped with easily at multiple outlets.

Central heating boilers have come a long way since the old style, large bulky cast iron models.

Most boilers now have all the controls fitted within itself, ie: Pump, Timeclock, Zone valve & Thermostats.

Today we can supply and fit a wide range of different styles to fit just about all personal requirements.

The most common siting of a boiler is in the kitchen. This is generally because most of the services the boiler requires are located there, i.e Gas supply, hot and cold water pipework. Here they can also be incorporated into your kitchen units.

The type of boiler you require generally depends on what type of system you choose or what system you already have installed.

The location of your boiler can also dictate what type you can have. The main types are: Fan Flued & Open Flued, and can come as 'Wall Mounted' or 'Floor Standing'.

And last but not least..... Price. This can differ from as little as 400 pounds up to as much as 2500 pounds for a domestic rated boiler.
